What is concrete pumping

Pumping concrete uses a concrete pump machine to transport and pour the concrete mixture along the delivery pump pipe. It is an effective way to transport concrete mixture, with fast speed and less labor force. It is especially suitable for the transportation and pouring of large-volume concrete and high-rise building concrete.

The development history of concrete pumping

Concrete pumps have been studied since 1907. In 1932, the Dutchman J.C. Kuijman manufactured a concrete pump with a horizontal concrete cylinder, which had practical value. It was promoted in Europe and the United States after the Second World War. In the mid-1950s, the Federal Republic of Germany developed a hydraulically operated concrete pump, which greatly improved its working performance. In the mid-1960s, a concrete pump truck was developed, which had better maneuverability.

Types of concrete pumps

According to whether the concrete pump can be moved, there are concrete pump trailer, concrete boom pump and truck mounted concrete pumps. The concrete boom pump and truck mounted concrete pumps can drive by itself, making it easy to move to the construction site. The concrete pump truck is also equipped with folding booms.

What are the pump driving methods?

Concrete pumps are divided into squeeze pumps and piston pumps, as well as hydraulic diaphragm pumps and air tank pumps. Currently, most of them on the market are piston pumps. Piston pumps are mainly composed of hoppers, hydraulic cylinders and pistons, concrete cylinders, distribution valves, Y-shaped pipes, flushing equipment, power and hydraulic systems, etc. Among them, the distribution valve is an important component and comes in various types.

Types of concrete pump pipes

Concrete delivery pipes can be steel pipes, rubber pipes and plastic hoses. Each section of the steel pipe is 3m long, and the commonly used ones are DN100, 125 and 150mm. It is also equipped with 45°, 90° elbows and tapered pipes with variable cross-sections. When laying pipes, the flow resistance of the concrete mixture in the pipes should be minimized.

Boom placer

In addition to those conventional concrete pumps, boom placer concrete pump is also used. It is a placing equipment used in conjunction with concrete pumps for concrete pouring operations in construction. It is suitable for any concrete buildings such as buildings, bridges, roads, foundations, etc. The use of boom placer concrete pumps can give full play to the working efficiency of concrete pumps, improve pouring quality and reduce labor intensity.

It consists of placing arm assembly, slewing device, upper and lower supports, chassis, concrete pipelines, hydraulic system and electrical control system. But what points should we pay attention to during the construction process of the boom placer?

1. Check whether the bolts of the distribution boom are all tightened and whether the rotating shaft is normal.

2. Install the distribution boom according to the factory installation instructions.

3. Stand the boom upright to see if it can stand upright without using a counterweight. The tower crane is used for lifting and installation in two stages.

4. Set up the frame where the distribution boom is placed, and conduct inspection and acceptance.

5. When placing the distribution boom and its counterweight, it is required that the middle of the distribution boom must be 200~300mm overhead, and scaffolding boards should be laid under the feet to check whether the distribution boom shaft is vertical.

When placing the distribution boom on the frame, use the frame tube to compact the legs.
