In a previous article, we discussed who should be blamed for concrete boom pump truck accidents caused by truck failures. Here we would like to further discuss the case in which an accident happens owing to wrong operation of the operator.
First of all, it is very important that a pump operator must hold a valid employment certificate.
Generally speaking, most of the operating errors occur during boom deployment or boom withdrawal, when a concrete boom pump truck is prone to overturning accidents. In addition, other cases, such as high-voltage electric shock, collapse of the branch pump site and so on, can be categorized as operating errors, too. Safe operation of a concrete pump truck requires not only the accumulation of a lot of practical experience of the pumpers, but also the operator's rejection of unreasonable work requirements of the construction party, since he or she is mainly responsible for the safety of the pump truck when it’s working. Most of the time, the operator is held accountable in case of a safety accident.
However, as mentioned above, most pumpers are incapable of compensating for this type of safety accident. Therefore, most of the responsibility will be passed on to the owner. However, if a concrete pump truck causes the death of a person and does not reach a compensation agreement with the victim's family, the operator would need to bear criminal responsibility. As for the owner of the truck, he can either pay compensation himself or turn the insurance companies for help.
Therefore, you need to be very careful in operating and driving a concrete boom pump truck, even though you have a valid certificate. Never leave your destiny to luck!
